This combination regimen is an adjunctive therapy investigated for women with poor ovarian response undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). It consists of somatropin (recombinant human growth hormone), human pituitary follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and a GnRH antagonist. Somatropin acts as an agonist at the growth hormone receptor, enhancing ovarian sensitivity to FSH and promoting follicular maturation by increasing the production of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1). FSH binds to the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor to drive follicular development and estrogen production. The GnRH antagonist binds to the gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor to suppress premature luteinizing hormone (LH) surges, thereby preventing untimely ovulation during controlled ovarian hyperstimulation. This multi-drug protocol is primarily studied by the Riyadh Fertility and Reproductive Health Center.
