Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**sonepcizumab + aflibercept** is a combination drug consisting of sonepcizumab and aflibercept. Aflibercept is a recombinant fusion protein that acts as a potent inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), blocking VEGF-A, VEGF-B, and placental growth factor (PlGF). This action reduces abnormal blood vessel growth and vascular permeability in the eye[1][5]. Sonepcizumab is a monoclonal antibody targeting sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), which is involved in angiogenesis and vascular permeability. The combination is investigated for enhanced efficacy in conditions involving neovascularization, notably wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
