Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sorafenib + tegafur-uracil is a combination therapy that has been investigated for the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Sorafenib is a multi-kinase inhibitor with anti-angiogenic activity that was approved for the treatment of advanced HCC. Tegafur-uracil (UFT) is an oral fluoropyrimidine that provides metronomic chemotherapy. The combination was studied based on preclinical evidence suggesting that metronomic chemotherapy using tegafur-uracil could enhance the anti-tumor effect of anti-angiogenic agents like sorafenib.
