Overview

Sorafenib + YIV-906 is a combination therapy being developed by Yiviva Inc. for the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), particularly in patients with chronic hepatitis B (HBV+). YIV-906 (formerly PHY906 or KD018) is an orally administered botanical drug candidate composed of a patented extract of four herbs, inspired by an 1800-year-old traditional Chinese medicine (Huang Qin Tang). It acts as a pan-adjuvant and immune system modulator designed to enhance the anti-tumor activity of cancer drugs while protecting the gastrointestinal tract from toxicity by reducing inflammation and promoting tissue regeneration. Sorafenib is a multi-kinase inhibitor that targets VEGFR, PDGFR, and Raf kinases to inhibit tumor cell proliferation and angiogenesis. The combination is currently being evaluated in the Phase 2b CALM trial (NCT04000737) and has received Orphan Drug Designation from the FDA for hepatocellular carcinoma and pancreatic cancer.
