Souroubea + platanus is a botanical combination product developed primarily for the treatment of anxiety and noise-induced stress, such as thunderstorm phobia, in companion animals, specifically dogs. The formulation consists of extracts from the tropical Neotropical plant *Souroubea sympetala* and the North American sycamore *Platanus occidentalis*. The primary active therapeutic component in *Souroubea* is betulinic acid, which has been identified as a positive allosteric modulator of the GABA-A receptor, thereby enhancing inhibitory neurotransmission in the central nervous system to produce anxiolytic effects. The *Platanus occidentalis* component is included for its synergistic properties, which may involve enhancing the bioavailability or efficacy of the triterpenes found in *Souroubea*.
