Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SP-101 is a non-competitive N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist under development by Synphatec (Shanghai) Biopharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd. for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). Administered via intravenous infusion, SP-101 is designed to modulate glutamatergic signaling, a pathway implicated in the rapid relief of depressive symptoms. It is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in healthy adult volunteers. Like other NMDA receptor antagonists, SP-101 aims to provide a rapid-acting therapeutic effect for patients with depression who may not respond to traditional monoaminergic antidepressants.
