SPEEDA + TRCS SPEEDA is a next-generation, highly purified rabies vaccine produced using continuous Vero cell culture technology. It is chromatographically purified and derived from the PV-2016 rabies virus strain, a Pasteur strain supplied by the U.S. CDC and recommended by WHO. The vaccine is inactivated by β-propiolactone and designed to induce immunity against the rabies virus in humans for both pre-exposure prophylaxis (for people at risk such as veterinarians, laboratory personnel, travelers to enzootic areas) and post-exposure prophylaxis (after bites or scratches from potentially rabid animals). The TRCS Speeda formulation follows a modified intradermal vaccination schedule known as the TRC-ID regimen (0.1 ml intradermally at two sites on days 0, 3, 7, and 28). For category III exposures, anti-rabies immunoglobulin should be administered concurrently on day 0 at different injection sites. The vaccine has been used since around 2005 in Vietnam and Thailand with demonstrated safety and immunogenicity comparable to other regimens[1][3][4][5].
