Overview

A split-virion inactivated influenza vaccine evaluated in clinical studies led by the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention. This vaccine type is created by disrupting the influenza virus with detergents, leaving the essential immunogenic components (hemagglutinin and neuraminidase) while removing much of the viral structure to improve safety and reduce side effects compared to whole-virus vaccines. It is intended for seasonal prophylaxis against influenza A and B strains. The Beijing CDC conducted comparative studies (such as NCT00981578) to assess its safety and immunogenicity across diverse populations, including infants, children, and the elderly, relative to other domestic and imported vaccine products.
