Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SR58611A + escitalopram is a **combination of two investigational and approved pharmaceutical drugs**: **SR58611A (amibegron)**, a selective beta-3 adrenoceptor agonist with preclinical evidence of anxiolytic and antidepressant-like properties, and **escitalopram**, an approved selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) indicated for major depressive disorder and anxiety disorders. SR58611A could potentially enhance monoaminergic (serotonin and norepinephrine) and glutamatergic neurotransmission in the brain via selective beta-3 adrenoceptor activation, while escitalopram inhibits serotonin reuptake at the serotonin transporter, increasing serotonin levels in the synaptic cleft. This combination may hypothetically synergize through dual modulation of serotonergic and noradrenergic/glutamatergic neurotransmission, although there are no known clinical reports of their joint use to date.
