Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SRD-001 is a preclinical small-molecule drug candidate being developed by Sardocor for the treatment of Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction (HFrEF). It acts as a modulator of the Sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum calcium ATPase 2a (SERCA2a), an enzyme critical for calcium homeostasis in cardiomyocytes. In HFrEF, SERCA2a activity is typically downregulated, leading to impaired calcium reuptake into the sarcoplasmic reticulum and reduced cardiac contractility. By enhancing SERCA2a function, SRD-001 aims to restore efficient calcium cycling, thereby improving heart function and contractile performance.
