Overview

ssCART-19 + CD19-positive feeding T cells is an investigational combination cell therapy being developed by The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University in collaboration with Shanghai Unicar-Therapy Bio-Medicine Technology. The therapy consists of two autologous components: ssCART-19, a CD19-targeted chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy engineered with a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) to silence interleukin-6 (IL-6) expression, and CD19-positive feeding T cells (FTCs). The FTCs are autologous T cells engineered to overexpress CD19, acting as surrogate leukemia cells to provide continuous antigenic stimulation, which promotes the in vivo expansion and persistence of the CAR-T cells. This combination is primarily evaluated as a consolidation therapy for patients with Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) who have achieved complete remission, aiming to eliminate minimal residual disease while mitigating cytokine release syndrome through IL-6 silencing.
