Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SSI + CAR T is a preclinical combination immunotherapy being developed by Qu Biologics for the treatment of solid tumors. The therapy pairs Qu Biologics' Site Specific Immunomodulator (SSI), specifically the QBECO SSI product (derived from inactivated Escherichia coli), with CAR T-cell therapy. SSIs are a novel class of biologics designed to restore innate immune function in targeted organs and modulate the tumor microenvironment (TME). By increasing immune cell infiltration and reversing immunosuppression within the TME, the SSI component is intended to overcome the primary barriers that have limited the efficacy of CAR T-cell therapies in solid tumors. Preclinical studies conducted in collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS Medicine) have demonstrated that the combination of QBECO SSI and CAR T-cell therapy significantly improves survival rates in aggressive cancer models compared to CAR T-cell therapy alone. A clinical study in solid tumors is planned to initiate in 2026.
