Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ST-00 + ICI (also known as ST-00-i) is a preclinical-stage combination therapy being developed by SonoTarg, a biotechnology company spun out from Ulster University and the University of Oxford. The therapy combines SonoTarg's proprietary ultrasound-activated sonodynamic therapy (SDT), delivered via a lipid-shelled, gas-core microbubble drug delivery platform, with an anti-PD-L1 immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI). When activated by targeted ultrasound, the sonodynamic component generates local cytotoxic effects and works synergistically with the PD-L1 blockade to promote robust antitumor immune activity. This hybrid approach is designed to treat metastatic disease by eliciting a strong systemic immune response (abscopal effect) at both target and non-target tumor sites while minimizing systemic toxicity.
