Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Standardized Mite, Mixed (also known as mixed mite extract) is an allergenic extract biologic composed of equal parts of *Dermatophagoides farinae* and *Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus* allergen extracts. It is indicated for the diagnosis of dust mite hypersensitivity through skin testing and for allergen-specific immunotherapy (desensitization) to mitigate symptoms of mite-induced allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and allergic asthma. The product works by gradually desensitizing the patient's immune system to specific dust mite allergens, thereby reducing the IgE-mediated allergic response upon subsequent exposure. It is typically formulated as a sterile solution in 50% glycerin with phenol as a preservative and is administered via subcutaneous injection for immunotherapy or intradermal/prick testing for diagnosis.
