Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This drug is a combination oral tablet containing inactivated bacterial bodies of Staphylococcus albus (Staphylococcus epidermidis), Neisseria catarrhalis (now classified as Moraxella catarrhalis), and Bacillus subtilis. It is used primarily for the adjunctive treatment and prevention of chronic bronchitis and asthmatic bronchitis. The mechanism involves immunomodulation—components such as lipopolysaccharides from the bacterial cell walls can induce interferon production, activate the complement C3 pathway, stimulate reticuloendothelial system activity, enhance leukocyte phagocytosis, and improve both non-specific immunity and respiratory mucosal specific immune function. This results in increased resistance to respiratory infections[1][2][4][5][8].
