Statin + ezetimibe + hybutimibe is an intensive lipid-lowering combination therapy regimen. It consists of an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin), ezetimibe (a cholesterol absorption inhibitor), and hybutimibe (a novel selective cholesterol absorption inhibitor, also known as HS-25). Statins work by inhibiting the rate-limiting enzyme in hepatic cholesterol synthesis, while ezetimibe and hybutimibe both target the Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 (NPC1L1) protein in the small intestine to block the absorption of dietary and biliary cholesterol.
