This is a combination of three nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs): stavudine, lamivudine, and abacavir. Each component inhibits HIV-1 reverse transcriptase by acting as a nucleoside analog, thereby blocking viral DNA synthesis and reducing HIV replication. This combination would be used as part of antiretroviral therapy for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. While fixed-dose combinations containing abacavir/lamivudine/zidovudine are marketed (e.g., Trizivir), there is no evidence that a fixed-dose or branded product combining specifically stavudine, lamivudine, and abacavir exists or is approved; however, these drugs may be co-administered in clinical practice in certain settings.
