Drug intelligence / Profile preview
STC007 is a long-acting local anesthetic formulation consisting of bupivacaine encapsulated in multivesicular liposomes. Developed by Chengdu Novo-Shengtai Biotechnology, it is designed to provide extended postoperative analgesia for up to 72 hours following surgical procedures. The liposomal delivery system allows for the slow, sustained release of bupivacaine into the surgical site, reducing the need for systemic opioids. Bupivacaine acts by binding to the intracellular portion of voltage-gated sodium channels, blocking sodium influx and preventing the generation and conduction of nerve impulses. STC007 is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for the management of moderate to severe pain following abdominal surgery and other surgical procedures.
