Sticky Bone + injectable platelet-rich fibrin (iPRF) is a combination regenerative therapy developed by researchers at Al-Azhar University for the management of periodontal intrabony defects. The treatment involves the surgical application of 'Sticky Bone'—a moldable, bioactive scaffold created by mixing a bone xenograft with autologous injectable platelet-rich fibrin—followed by repeated post-surgical injections of iPRF. iPRF is a second-generation platelet concentrate obtained through centrifugation of the patient's blood without anticoagulants, resulting in a fibrin matrix that slowly releases essential growth factors, including platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). This combination aims to enhance the regeneration of the tooth's supporting periodontal tissues by providing both a physical matrix for bone growth and a sustained biological stimulus for cellular proliferation and angiogenesis.
