Sprint Bioscience is developing a small molecule inhibitor targeting serine/threonine kinase 25 (STK25) for the treatment of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). STK25 is a protein kinase that plays a key role in regulating lipid storage, inflammatory signaling, and fibrotic pathways within the liver. By inhibiting STK25 activity, the candidate aims to reduce hepatic fat accumulation and prevent the progression of liver fibrosis. The program was initially licensed to LG Chem in 2019 but returned to Sprint Bioscience in 2023. In 2025, Sprint entered a collaboration with the Experimental Drug Development Centre (EDDC) to further explore the molecule's potential in MASH and other inflammatory conditions.
