StreptAnova is a 30-valent recombinant protein subunit vaccine designed to prevent Group A streptococcal (GAS) infections, including pharyngitis, invasive disease, and rheumatic heart disease. Developed at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center by Dr. James B. Dale and commercialized by Vaxent and PREVENT, the vaccine was evaluated in a Phase I trial sponsored by Dalhousie University. The formulation consists of four recombinant proteins that incorporate N-terminal peptides from 30 different M protein serotypes of *Streptococcus pyogenes*, along with the Streptococcal protective antigen (Spa). Adjuvanted with aluminum hydroxide, StreptAnova is intended to provide broad-spectrum immunity against approximately 85% of GAS strains prevalent in North America and Europe. Phase I results indicated that the vaccine is safe, well-tolerated, and immunogenic in healthy adults.
