Stribild + darunavir

Stribild + darunavir is an antiretroviral combination regimen being investigated as a treatment simplification strategy for HIV-1 infection. Stribild is a fixed-dose, single-tablet regimen developed by Gilead Sciences that contains elvitegravir (an integrase strand transfer inhibitor), cobicistat (a pharmacokinetic enhancer that inhibits CYP3A enzymes), emtricitabine (a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor), and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor). Darunavir, developed by Janssen, is a protease inhibitor. The University of British Columbia sponsored the Phase 4 'QuaDar' trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of adding darunavir to the Stribild regimen in treatment-experienced, virologically suppressed patients to simplify their treatment to a once-daily schedule.
