Overview

Stromal vascular fraction (SVF), also known as adipose-derived regenerative cells (ADRCs), is an investigational autologous cell therapy being developed by Esbjerg Hospital - University Hospital of Southern Denmark for the treatment of chronic Peyronie's disease. SVF is a complex mixture of cells obtained from a patient's own adipose tissue via liposuction, containing adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs), mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), endothelial precursor cells, and various immune modulatory cells. The therapy involves a same-day procedure where the harvested fat is processed to isolate the SVF, which is then injected directly into the Peyronie's disease plaque (fibrosis) in the tunica albuginea. The mechanism of action relies on the regenerative, anti-inflammatory, and angiogenic properties of the stem and progenitor cells, which aim to remodel the fibrous tissue and reduce penile curvature. This approach is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 prospective pilot study (NCT04771442).
