This investigational autologous cell therapy consists of the stromal vascular fraction (SVF) derived from a patient's own abdominal adipose tissue. The SVF is prepared using the Lipogems System, a mechanical, enzyme-free processing technology that reduces the size of adipose tissue clusters while preserving the natural microenvironment (niches) of the cells. The resulting product is a heterogeneous population of cells, including mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), pericytes, endothelial cells, and adipocytes. These cells are thought to exert therapeutic effects through anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and regenerative mechanisms when injected intra-articularly into the knee joint. The treatment is being investigated by Hvidovre University Hospital for the management of knee osteoarthritis, focusing on safety, feasibility, and potential cartilage regeneration.
