This is a combination of two drugs: - **Sucroferric oxyhydroxide (PA21)** is an iron-based, calcium-free phosphate binder indicated for the control of serum phosphorus levels in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on dialysis. It acts by binding dietary phosphate in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby reducing its absorption and lowering serum phosphorus[1][2][3][4][7]. - **Furosemide** is a loop diuretic commonly used to treat fluid overload and edema associated with heart failure, liver disease, and kidney disease. It works by inhibiting sodium and chloride reabsorption in the ascending limb of the loop of Henle in the nephron, leading to increased urine output. There are no approved or widely recognized fixed-dose combination products containing both sucroferric oxyhydroxide (PA21) and furosemide; however, both may be co-administered in clinical practice for patients with CKD who require management of hyperphosphatemia (with PA21) and volume overload/edema (with furosemide).
