Overview

Sufentanil + morphine is a combination of two potent opioid analgesics used for the management of severe pain, typically in clinical or perioperative settings. Both drugs act primarily as agonists at the mu-opioid receptor in the central nervous system, leading to profound analgesia and sedation. Sufentanil is a synthetic opioid that is significantly more potent than fentanyl and morphine, often used for anesthesia induction and maintenance or short-term acute pain control[2][8]. Morphine is a naturally derived opiate widely used for both acute and chronic severe pain management[6][10]. The combination may be considered when synergistic effects are desired or when titrating complex pain regimens under close medical supervision. Both agents carry risks of respiratory depression, dependence, tolerance, and other opioid-related adverse effects.
