Overview

This combination regimen consists of the programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitor suglizumab and platinum-based chemotherapy, specifically paclitaxel and carboplatin. It is being evaluated for the treatment of advanced lung squamous cell carcinoma in patients with comorbid chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Suglizumab is a monoclonal antibody that blocks the interaction between PD-L1 and its receptors (PD-1 and CD80), thereby restoring T-cell activity and enhancing the immune response against tumor cells. Paclitaxel is a taxane that stabilizes microtubules, inhibiting mitosis and leading to cell death. Carboplatin is a platinum-based alkylating agent that causes DNA cross-linking, which interferes with DNA replication and transcription, ultimately inducing apoptosis. The regimen is typically administered intravenously in cycles.
