Overview

SUN-101 is an inhaled formulation of glycopyrrolate, a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) bronchodilator developed for the maintenance treatment of moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It acts by binding to muscarinic acetylcholine receptors in the airways and inhibiting the action of acetylcholine, resulting in bronchodilation. The drug is delivered via a proprietary eFlow nebulizer system designed to efficiently deliver medication directly to the lungs within minutes. SUN-101 was developed by Sunovion Pharmaceuticals and has been evaluated in multiple clinical trials for COPD but has not received FDA approval as of 2017[1][3][5].
