A combination of sunola oil (a high-oleic sunflower seed oil) and capelin oil (a fish-derived omega-3-rich marine lipid), typically mixed in a 2:1 ratio. This formulation has been used as a control or low-dose comparator in clinical trials investigating the effects of fish oils in recent-onset rheumatoid arthritis. The mixture provides small amounts of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)—about 0.21 g EPA and 0.19 g DHA per 10 mL daily dose—primarily from the capelin component, while the sunola component is largely monounsaturated fat with minimal omega-3 content. The mechanism of action is nutritional supplementation with minor anti-inflammatory potential due to low levels of EPA/DHA; it does not act as a pharmaceutical agent but may serve as an active placebo or dietary supplement[4][6][5].
