Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**SURF-100** is an investigational preservative-free ophthalmic fixed-dose combination of mycophenolic acid and betamethasone sodium phosphate formulated in Surface Ophthalmics' Klarity vehicle for chronic dry eye disease. Mycophenolic acid suppresses lymphocyte-driven ocular-surface inflammation by inhibiting inosine-5'-monophosphate dehydrogenase and de novo guanosine nucleotide synthesis, while betamethasone is a potent glucocorticoid corticosteroid intended to provide complementary anti-inflammatory activity. SURF-100 was evaluated in the completed Phase II NCT04734197 study as a sterile eye-drop solution, including comparisons with vehicle, mycophenolic-acid-only and betamethasone-only arms, cyclosporine ophthalmic emulsion, and lifitegrast ophthalmic solution.
