SurgX + BlastX refers to the combined use of two topical antimicrobial wound care products, SurgX Sterile Antimicrobial Gel and BlastX Antimicrobial Wound Gel, both developed by Next Science and utilizing the proprietary XBIO technology. - **SurgX** is indicated for management and protection against infection in acute and post-surgical wounds by targeting and destroying planktonic and biofilm-encased pathogens through biofilm deconstruction, primarily via chelation and disruption of extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) integrity, assisted by citric acid, surfactants, and a high osmolarity environment. - **BlastX** is indicated for wounds such as pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, burns, and donor/graft sites. It uses the same core XBIO technology to disrupt biofilms and exposes pathogens to bactericidal conditions. It also contains benzalkonium chloride and citric acid, which assist in antimicrobial activity and pH buffering. Both products facilitate wound healing, reduce biofilm formation and persistence, and provide a moist environment. The core mechanism in each is via **biofilm disruption** and **broad-spectrum antimicrobial action**. Next Science developed both products, and Zimmer Biomet is also associated as a manufacturer/distributor for SurgX.
