Overview
Susu Xiao'er Zhike Granules is an investigational Chinese patent medicine developed for the treatment of acute cough due to the common cold in children, specifically for the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) diagnosis of wind-cold cough syndrome. It is a multi-herb formulation that includes ingredients such as Citri grandis exocarpium (Hua Ju Hong), Coleus forskohlii (Qiao Rui Su), Perillae folium (Zi Su Ye), Platycodonis radix (Jie Geng), and Glycyrrhizae radix et rhizonma (Gan Cao). In TCM theory, these ingredients are intended to relieve cold, resolve phlegm, and stop cough. The formulation is based on a clinical experienced formula and has been developed into a patent medicine. Animal studies indicated that the granules could prolong the cough latent period and decrease cough frequency. Clinical development is being sponsored by Tasly Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. and Wuhan Pharmaceutical Valley Technology Development Co., Ltd., with the drug having completed Phase II and undergoing Phase III trials.
