Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Suvemcitug plus topotecan is an investigational combination therapy consisting of suvemcitug, a recombinant humanized anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) monoclonal antibody, and topotecan, a small-molecule topoisomerase I inhibitor chemotherapy. Suvemcitug selectively binds to multiple isoforms of VEGF (including VEGF121, VEGF189, and VEGF164/165) at an epitope distinct from bevacizumab, thereby inhibiting tumor angiogenesis. Topotecan is a semi-synthetic derivative of camptothecin that prevents DNA replication by stabilizing topoisomerase I-DNA cleavable complexes. Developed by Simcere (Simcere Zaiming), this combination has been evaluated in the Phase III SCORES trial (NCT04908787) and approved by the NMPA in China in July 2025 for the treatment of platinum-resistant recurrent epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, and primary peritoneal cancer, demonstrating a significant improvement in progression-free survival compared to chemotherapy alone.
