Overview

SYM021 + SYM023 is a **combination therapy** consisting of two fully human monoclonal antibodies: SYM021 (an anti-PD-1 antibody) and SYM023 (an anti-TIM-3 antibody). Both drugs are designed to block immune checkpoint pathways that cancer cells use to evade immune detection. By inhibiting these checkpoints (PD-1 and TIM-3), the combination aims to enhance the activity of T cells against cancer cells. SYM021 + SYM023 has been investigated in Phase 1b clinical trials for patients with advanced solid tumors and lymphomas, including biliary tract carcinoma and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. The drugs are produced as recombinant proteins and administered intravenously. The combination is developed by Symphogen and has shown acceptable tolerability in early clinical studies, with immune-related adverse events being the most common. The efficacy signal in these early phase trials has not yet been established[1][3][5][9].
