Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tagitol V + Lo So + Readi-Cat 2 refers to a specific bowel preparation and fecal tagging regimen used for CT colonography (CTC), also known as virtual colonoscopy. This combination is designed to optimize the visualization of the colonic lumen by tagging residual fecal matter and fluid with radiopaque contrast while providing a reduced-laxative cleansing effect. Tagitol V is a high-density (40% w/v) barium sulfate suspension used to tag solid stool, while Readi-Cat 2 is a low-density (2.1% w/v) barium sulfate suspension used to tag residual liquid. "Lo So" refers to the LoSo Prep kit, a bowel cleansing system manufactured by Bracco Diagnostics that typically contains magnesium citrate (an osmotic laxative) and bisacodyl (a stimulant laxative). This regimen allows for "electronic cleansing" during image processing, where tagged materials can be digitally subtracted to improve the detection of polyps and lesions, often providing a better-tolerated alternative to full-volume laxative preparations.
