taoren + honghua

Taoren + honghua is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herb pair composed of Semen Persicae (taoren/peach kernel) and Flos Carthami (honghua/safflower). This combination is widely used in TCM to promote blood circulation and dissipate blood stasis. Its main active components include amygdalin from taoren and hydroxysafflor yellow A from honghua. Pharmacological studies indicate that this combination can decrease whole blood viscosity and plasma viscosity, prolong thrombin time and thromboplastin time, increase prothrombin time, lower fibrinogen content, reduce platelet aggregation, protect vascular endothelial cells, inhibit pathological angiogenesis in chronic liver disease models, alleviate hepatic inflammation and fibrosis by modulating VEGF signaling pathways (including KDR/Flt-1/Akt), induce autophagy in atherosclerosis models via inhibition of the PI3K-AKT pathway to regulate cholesterol efflux and inflammation[1][2][6]. It is primarily indicated for conditions involving "blood stasis" such as chronic liver disease/fibrosis[2], hemorheological disorders[1], atherosclerosis[6], pain syndromes related to poor circulation[5], and other circulatory or inflammatory disorders.
