Technetium Tc 99m + 88BV59H21-2V67-66 is a radiopharmaceutical combination consisting of the radioisotope technetium Tc 99m and a totally human monoclonal antibody known as 88BV59H21–2V67–66 (also referred to as HumaSPECT-Tc). The antibody targets tumor-associated antigens, enabling specific binding to cancer cells. When labeled with technetium Tc 99m, this agent is used for immunoscintigraphy—an imaging technique that allows for the detection and localization of tumors, particularly in colorectal cancer patients. The mechanism involves the antibody binding to tumor cell surface antigens; the attached radioactive isotope emits gamma radiation detectable by imaging equipment, thus highlighting areas of tumor involvement. This approach aids in staging disease and assessing metastases[3][4][6].
