Technosphere insulin + metformin

Technosphere insulin + metformin is a combination therapy used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Technosphere insulin is a rapid-acting, inhaled formulation of regular human insulin delivered via microparticles composed primarily of fumaryl diketopiperazine (FDKP). Upon inhalation, these microparticles dissolve in the lungs and allow for quick absorption of insulin into systemic circulation, leading to rapid onset of action (approximately 12–15 minutes). Metformin is an oral antihyperglycemic agent from the biguanide class that reduces hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal glucose absorption, and increases peripheral glucose uptake and utilization by enhancing tissue sensitivity to insulin. The combination targets both fasting and postprandial hyperglycemia: technosphere insulin addresses mealtime spikes in blood sugar while metformin improves overall glycemic control by reducing baseline glucose levels and improving tissue response to endogenous or exogenous insulin[1][2][3][5][6].
