Overview

Teduglutide + L-NMMA is an experimental combination of two pharmacological agents used in clinical research to investigate their combined effects on intestinal and vascular physiology. Teduglutide is a recombinant analog of human glucagon-like peptide-2 (GLP-2), primarily indicated for the treatment of short bowel syndrome (SBS) dependent on parenteral support. It acts by binding to the GLP-2 receptor, enhancing intestinal absorption, increasing villus height and crypt depth, and promoting mucosal growth[2][5][7]. L-NMMA (NG-monomethyl-L-arginine) is a non-selective nitric oxide synthase inhibitor that competitively inhibits the generation of nitric oxide from arginine, resulting in vasoconstriction and modulation of blood flow[6][10]. The combination has been studied in healthy participants to assess how inhibition of nitric oxide synthesis with L-NMMA affects GLP-2-mediated intestinal lipoprotein release[1].
