Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Telaprevir + rilpivirine** is an investigational co-administration of two orally administered small-molecule antivirals evaluated in a Phase 1 healthy-volunteer pharmacokinetic interaction study. Telaprevir is a direct-acting hepatitis C virus NS3/4A serine protease inhibitor, while rilpivirine, previously designated **TMC278**, is a non-nucleoside inhibitor of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase. The combination was studied to characterize reciprocal effects on exposure at steady state, rather than as a marketed fixed-dose product or an established therapeutic regimen for HIV and hepatitis C coinfection.
