Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Telmisartan + clopidogrel is a fixed-dose combination therapy consisting of two distinct small molecule drugs: **telmisartan**, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) primarily used in the management of hypertension and cardiovascular risk, and **clopidogrel**, an antiplatelet agent that inhibits platelet aggregation by irreversibly binding to the P2Y12 ADP receptor on platelets. The combination is of interest for patients with both hypertension and increased thrombotic risk, though published data does not support enhanced efficacy for clinical endpoints such as proteinuria reduction in immunoglobulin A nephropathy or similar conditions when compared with the individual agents. Pharmacologically, the combination aims to target two axes of cardiovascular and renal risk: blood pressure reduction (telmisartan) and thrombosis prevention (clopidogrel).
