Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Meijiasu** is an oral fixed-dose antihypertensive combination containing **telmisartan 80 mg** and **hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg** per tablet. Telmisartan is a selective angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker that reduces angiotensin II-mediated vasoconstriction and aldosterone signaling, while hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that inhibits renal sodium-chloride reabsorption. The complementary mechanisms produce additive blood-pressure lowering and are used for adult primary hypertension inadequately controlled with telmisartan alone. Meijiasu is a Chinese brand of the telmisartan-hydrochlorothiazide product marketed internationally under MicardisPlus-related brand names by Boehringer Ingelheim.
