Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Telmisartan + rosuvastatin is a fixed-dose combination drug used to treat patients with both hypertension (high blood pressure) and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol). It combines two active pharmaceutical ingredients: - **Telmisartan** is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that lowers blood pressure by blocking the action of angiotensin II on its receptor. This leads to relaxation and widening of blood vessels. - **Rosuvastatin** is a statin (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor) that reduces cholesterol levels by inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase in the liver. This decreases production of "bad" LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing "good" HDL cholesterol. The combination helps reduce cardiovascular risk in patients who require both antihypertensive and lipid-lowering therapy. It is available as an oral tablet for adult use[1][5][8].
