Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CPB2104 is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) pharmaceutical product developed by Corepharmbio, consisting of the angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) telmisartan and the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor rosuvastatin. It is indicated for the treatment of patients who have both essential hypertension and primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia. Telmisartan functions by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in many tissues, such as vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland, resulting in vasodilation and reduced aldosterone secretion. Rosuvastatin is a statin that competitively inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme that converts 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A to mevalonate, a precursor of cholesterol. By combining these two agents, CPB2104 provides a simplified treatment regimen for patients with co-existing cardiovascular risk factors, potentially improving medication adherence.
