Overview

**Telmisartan + verapamil** is a combination of two antihypertensive agents: telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and verapamil, a non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. Telmisartan selectively blocks the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, inhibiting the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, leading to a reduction in blood pressure and improvement in metabolic parameters. Verapamil inhibits L-type calcium channels in the heart and vascular smooth muscle, decreasing myocardial contractility and heart rate, and promoting vasodilation. The combination has been investigated for hypertension, and research also supports its use for reducing proteinuria and blood pressure in patients with diabetic nephropathy[2][3][6].
