The telomerase: 540-548 peptide vaccine (also known as HR2822) is a synthetic cancer therapeutic vaccine composed of a short peptide derived from amino acids 540 to 548 of human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT). It is designed to stimulate the immune system—specifically T cell responses—against cells expressing telomerase, an enzyme highly active in over 90% of cancers but largely absent in normal somatic tissues. The mechanism involves presentation of the hTERT-derived epitope by antigen-presenting cells to activate cytotoxic T lymphocytes and/or helper T cells, leading to targeted destruction of tumor cells. This approach aims to harness adaptive immunity for broad-spectrum anti-tumor activity. The HR2822 peptide has been evaluated both alone and in combination with other hTERT peptides (such as GV1001) in early-phase clinical trials for various cancers including non-small cell lung cancer[4][5].
