Overview

Teneligliptin + canagliflozin is a fixed-dose oral combination drug used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, primarily in Japan. It combines two antihyperglycemic agents with complementary mechanisms of action: - Teneligliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases incretin levels (such as GLP-1), thereby enhancing insulin secretion and suppressing glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. - Canagliflozin is a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that reduces blood glucose by promoting urinary glucose excretion through inhibition of renal glucose reabsorption. The combination improves glycemic control and has been shown to reduce hemoglobin A1c and body weight, with an acceptable safety profile. The product was developed for once-daily administration to improve adherence in patients requiring dual therapy[1][3][8].
