Overview

Tenofovir + amibufenamide is a fixed-dose combination of two antiviral agents used for the treatment of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Tenofovir, typically in the form of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate or tenofovir alafenamide, is a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) that inhibits viral replication by incorporating into viral DNA and causing chain termination. Amibufenamide (also known as E-CFCP) is a novel nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor developed to provide potent anti-HBV activity with improved safety and pharmacokinetics compared to existing therapies. The combination aims to enhance antiviral efficacy while minimizing toxicity, particularly renal and bone side effects associated with older formulations of tenofovir.
