Overview

A combination of three antiretroviral drugs—tenofovir, lamivudine, and raltegravir—used in the treatment of HIV-1 infection. Tenofovir and lamivudine are nucleoside/nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) that inhibit HIV reverse transcriptase, thereby blocking viral replication. Raltegravir is an integrase strand transfer inhibitor (INSTI) that prevents the integration of viral DNA into the host genome. This triple-drug regimen is used as part of combination antiretroviral therapy for HIV-1 infection and may be considered in certain clinical scenarios where alternative regimens are not suitable or when drug resistance or intolerance to other agents exists[1][2][4]. The combination has been studied for both treatment and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), with evidence suggesting effective suppression of viral replication[5].
