This is a combination of three antiretroviral agents used in the treatment of HIV-1 infection. Tenofovir alafenamide is a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) that inhibits HIV-1 reverse transcriptase, thereby blocking viral replication. Cobicistat and ritonavir are both pharmacokinetic enhancers (boosters) that inhibit cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A) enzymes, increasing the plasma concentrations of coadministered drugs metabolized by CYP3A, such as certain protease inhibitors. Cobicistat itself has no anti-HIV activity but selectively inhibits CYP3A to boost other antiretrovirals; ritonavir also acts as a booster but has some intrinsic anti-HIV activity and broader effects on other metabolic pathways[6][8]. This specific triple combination is not available as a fixed-dose product or under any unique brand name; it may be used off-label in clinical practice for patients requiring tailored regimens.
